SANTA BARBARA VINEYARD CHURCH
“The trumpeters and singers joined in unison as with one voice to give praise and thanks to the Lord. They raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang: “He is good and His love endures forever”. Then the temple of the Lord was filled with a cloud, and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple of God.” 2 Chron 5:13-14
We encounter God when we worship him with all of our hearts. When we bow our hearts to worship Him, the veil is parted between heaven and earth and He draws near in His manifested presence and allows us to see Him and to taste what it will be like to spend eternity with Him in heaven. When His manifested Presence falls in a place, many people weep, some are struck silent, and some are moved to exalt the Lord. In His presence all of the stuff of the world fades away and we see His beauty and majesty and His all-consuming glory.
When the presence of God fell upon the followers of Jesus in Acts 2, they heard it as a thunderous sound like a mighty blowing wind, and physically saw it as tongues of fire. Their lives were radically transformed by the Presence. They were filled with His Spirit, spoke in tongues and preached boldly. Three thousand were saved that day as they went out with the Lord’s presence upon them.
As 2 Corinthians 3:18 says, “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
We are transformed as we encounter His glorious Presence in worship.
